I have received an invitation from friends to climb Mago peak. As I am collecting names of peaks in Cebu, I can’t recall of any. So I quickly googled and as of the time, it just pictures of another nature. Most interestingly, there’s a spot where you’ll be in 3 places at the same time. You will be in Danao, Carmen and Tuburan. So we named our event as Boundary climb.
Carmen is just more than an hour from Cebu North Bus Terminal. After waiting for everyone that will join. We hop in a bus going to Carmen. We stopped at Carmen public market to have our lunch and also we bought necessary supply for the climb.
From market, we travelelled to Brgy. Santikan via habal-habal which is the jumpoff to Mago peak. We started our trek at around 3pm
After passing a few houses. We rest at this beautiful area
Since the campsite is just a few minutes away we rest again
Then we continue our trek. Just perfect to pitch our tent at Tapol campsite.
Perfect for sunset
What was our dinner? Shrimp in tomato sauce and pork nilat.an
On this climb friends invited some of their friends so it was another chance to meet new friends. Together with Chivas Regal, Mojitos and Tanduay. They also have popcorn.
Then we called it a night.
Morning was greeted with cold wind and light rain
But it didn’t stop us from preparing our Pork binagoongan for breakfast.
And it was a good breakfast. We then packed up, took some pictures as we need to climb to the boundary marker.
From Tapol campsite to boundary marker, it took 45 minutes to reached.
The view is stunning
And then we took pictures from the boundary marker
I think Mago peak is another alternative for a short climb or for anyone who would like to have a short weekend in the mountain. And Carmen has a lot to offer too like caves, groto and St. Benedict monastery. I’ll write a separate blog for those.
