Date : February 13 – 15, 2015
Where: Mt. Pulag, Benguet Philippines
We called it the Valentine’s Trek. Joined with old and new friends, We climbed Luzon’s highest mountain. The coldest peak in the Philippines, the most popular. It is 2,922 meters above sea level and is known for its sea of clouds.
From Cebu, we fly for our first major climb in Luzon. We arrived in Baguio city at around 5am in the morning. Then we travel for another 3 hours to Kabayan where we will have our orientation, get our guide and porter and jump off to what they call the “Killer Trail”, The Akiki – Ambangeg trail.
We are able to go to the peak even the weather was not in our favor. But maybe it is Pulag’s way of saying… I want you to come back.
Anyway, here’s a few of my favorite shots
Akiki’s first view after first assault
Second stop, into the Woods
Climbing is a challenge… including carrying your survival pack
It was another memorable climb, I plan to take the Ambangeg trail in my next Pulag visit. Hope weather will be on our side by then.
